1. Barter with Bart provides an information service through which members can exchange goods and services, and maintains a central account of those exchanges for the benefit of members, at no charge to members.
  2. Barter with Bart holds Members information.
    1. Members agree to Barter with Bart holding their details on computer and distributing to other members those details, where relevant to the purpose of Barter, including their Bart Account details, in order that both parties of a Barter can confrim that the other Member is genuine, and acting in the interests of the Membership as a whole.
    2. Members also agree to the directory of goods and services being distributed to the general public but without their contact details
    3. No-one, other than Barter with Bart, can contact any members, outside the situation of a Barter. Contact details are only revealed to other members within the context of a Barter.
    4. Members also must accept that information may be given to relevant government authorities, should it be correctly requested.
    5. On this point, it should be noted that Members accept full responsibility for the payment of any taxes which may be due from Barters
  3. Members may give or receive from each other credit in the accepted Barter with Bart unit of account called Barts. These units are considered to represent the nominal value of 1 Euro and are recorded centrally. Members are reminded that Barts cannot be exchanged from, or into, any other currency.
  4. Only the account holder can authorize the transfer of units from their account to that of another.
  5. No money is deposited or issued. Members may engage in any transaction entirely in Barts, or on a part cash, part Bart basis, but only Barts are recorded on Barter with Bart system.
  6. All accounts start at zero. Since Members have no Barts in their account, a Bart overdraft is available, at no charge, subject to any limit that may be set by the management from time to time.
  7. No member is obliged to accept any particularly invitation to Barter, or to engage in any transaction whatsoever with other members. Should a member run up an overdraft, and not appear to be making an effort to reduce it (by offering to supply services or goods to other member), the management may cap their overdraft, in the interest of those members who use the system properly.
  8. No interest is charged or paid on balances. Further, the currency has no value outside of the system, and can only be used to pay other members for services.
  9. Barter with Bart may decline to record an account or directory entry considered inappropriate for legal or other reasons.
  10. No warranty or undertaking as to the value, condition or quality of services or items is expressed or implied by virtue of the introduction of members to each other. Barter with Bart publishes a list of the services and resources made available to members, but cannot be held responsible for the quality or suitability of any services or goods offered.
  11. Barter with Bart may act on behalf of members in seeking explanation or satisfaction from a person whose activity is considered to be contrary to the interests of the membership. Barter with Bart may suspend membership, and as a last resort may remove members from the system. Barter with Bart also reserve the right to deny membership to an applicant in exceptional circumstances at their discretion, or to cancel members advertisements that it feels are not in the spirit of the site.
  12. Members accept that all decisions made by Barter with Bart are final and binding. For their part, Barter with Bart agrees to work and moderate for the benefit of all
  13. Membership in Barter with Bart implies acceptance of the conditions of this agreement.
  14. This agreement may be updated, changed or modified at the discretion of Barter with Bart.
