How does it work for them?

They joined BarterwithBart - it's free to join - and added their list of skills to the directory, together with their location. Maybe they also added some exchange that they were particularly interested in, or something that they were looking for. Then they waited for someone to contact them.

So when Anne got in touch with Billy about getting the gardening done, they chatted via our onsite email system, and they agreed on a price of 20 Barts. When they both agreed that they would go ahead with the work, 20 Barts was taken from Annes BartAccount, and placed in the Central Bank. It won't be paid to Billy, until Anne logs in, and confirms that the job has been done.

When Anne confirms that the work is completed, then the 20 Barts that was held in the Central Bank is transferred from the Central Bank to Billys BartAccount. At the same time, Anne is charged a small commission. The commission is in Euros, at the rate of 2.5 centimos for each Bart.

So there's commission - is it expensive?
