How does BarterwithBart work?

Lets look at a chain of transactions within a Barter

One day, Anne looks out the window. The lawn needs mowing, and some of the trees need attention. And she really doesn't want to do it, she hates gardening, but likes it to look nice.

She visits BarterwithBart, and looks through the directory for someone not too far away who might be able to do it. She finds Billy. They agree on a price of 20 Barts. Billy comes round, and does the job. He earns his 20 Barts.

Later that week, Billy realises that it's his wife's birthday, and a special cake would be nice. He looks on BarterwithBart, and finds Christine, who does just the kind of thing that he is looking for. They agree on 15 Barts. So Billy orders the cake from Christine, and, when it arrives, pays her the 15 Barts, so he has 5 left in his account.

Christine has been having problems with the car, and looks on BarterwithBart, finds Dave. He agrees to service the car for 45 Barts. She has 5 Barts from Billy, and 15 Barts from others who have bought cakes from her. She is 20 Barts short, so decides to overdraw her Bart account - after all, overdrafts are free, and gets Dave to service the car.
