News from Barter with Bart
Collecting your info
Tuesday, 17th February, 2009
One of the first questions that I got, was "Why do you collect the information that you collect?"
OK, firstly we need your email address, to be able to send you a message if someone wants to contact you. That much is simple enough.
We ask for your location, because when you visit the site, and do any kind of search or listing, you will see people closest to you first. Which is really useful.
We ask you what you are offering to Barter. Obviously, if you have nothing to Barter, then you can't ... barter...!
And we ask you your name.
I don't like answering lots of questions. So I don't see why you should. And I don't see how we can function, and ask you less questions.
Apart from that, there are a few optional questions, which you don't need to answer if you don't want to, but are helping us to build a better picture of who our members are.
And, why do you ask us to confirm our email address?
Because if we don't have your email address, there is no point in making your details visible to other members - they will never be able to contact you. We ask you to click on a link in an email which we send you, which confirms that you are receiving emails from us.
All systems GO!

Now that the site is live, it's time to answer some of the questions that people have been posing.
I will be publishing some of the questions here, without revealing the name of the person who asked the question. Perhaps it will help other people to make the most of BarterwithBart.
Any questions, click on [Contact Us] on the right.
